Join us this New Year as we continue to support marriage and family life at Wesley! We will be offering Parenting Studies, Marriage Events, and Couples Groups from 6:00–7:00pm on Wednesday evenings following W@W. January 16 kicks off with Intentional Parenting facilitated by David Herndon (a four week study). On February 13 we’ll have a Married People date night event which will include games and prizes, followed by a six week couples study beginning February 20. Childcare and a light supper will be provided each week. Email email@example.com with questions or to RSVP.
ONE-YEAR BIBLE READING
As D.L. Moody says, “God didn’t give us His Word to inform us, but to transform us.” Reading the Bible through in one year will take us on a journey to learn about God and his story in ways we cannot imagine. If you are serious about reading the Bible through in a year but have had unsuccessful attempts in the past, click here for nine tips that will help you reach your goal. Let’s do this! To view several optional reading plans, click here. May God bless you on your journey.
EPIC BIBLE STUDY
Are you looking for a good Bible study to begin the New Year? Look no further than our next study in the Epic series, Isaiah. It will be led by our pastor on Tuesdays beginning January 29 at 7:00pm. This is an 8-week, DVD-based study series written by Dr. Sandra Richter, a professor of Biblical interpretation at Wheaton College. You will learn about Israel’s religion and economy, explore the definition and role of the prophets, and apply the message of this great champion of faith to your life today. The cost of the study guide is $20. For questions or to register, contact Paige Gober: 634-1412 x13.
Our 2019 Confirmation Class will begin January 27. If you have a 6th-grade student, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP for this spiritual rite of passage.
EMAIL UPDATE OPTIONS
Have you signed up to receive Wesley email updates based on your preferences: Wesley Newsletter, Church Life, Events and Concerts, and/or Children and Youth? If not, take a moment to subscribe and let us know your interests!
HS WINTER RETREAT
All high school students are invited to join us for our annual weekend in the wilderness. We’ll take a spiritual retreat into the mountains to worship, pray, and have some fun together. Sign-up forms are available in the youth room. Email email@example.com for more information.
SPARROW'S NEST ITEMS
As the year kicks off, don’t forget to contribute to the Sparrow’s Nest box located in the hallway near Paige Gober’s office. Every time food is delivered from Wesley, we are greeted with smiles and such warm gratitude. Remember, all non-perishable food items are accepted and be sure to check the expiration dates as well. We most often get requests for fruits, vegetables, canned proteins (tuna, chicken, spaghetti-o's), peanut butter and jelly, and household paper products such as toilet paper and paper towels. Thank you to all who support this important ministry in Brunswick!
Each year, the Worship Committee asks assistance from the congregation to beautify the sanctuary. Weekly, two flower arrangements are placed near the altar to celebrate a special event or memorialize a loved one. These flowers are also used by Wesley's Flower Ministry to minister to the sick and homebound. To reserve a date, please sign the 2019 Flower Calendar located in the breezeway. The Flower Basket will continue to provide us with flowers for the upcoming year, and the cost will remain $137. Thanks to all who have contributed to this important ministry.
If your contact information has changed (address, cell/home phone, email address), or other significant changes have occurred in your household, please let us know. Email updates to firstname.lastname@example.org or call (912) 634-1412. Thank you for helping us to keep our records current.
ONLINE GIVINGThrough our website, we offer the convenience of online giving. Donors can pay their tithe, contribute to various funds, and establish recurring transactions, all with great ease. Click here or choose "Giving" in the navigation menu to make a contribution. If you need assistance or have questions, please contact the church office: email@example.com or (912) 634-1412.
We invite you to attend a Wesley 101 class on January 27 at 6:00pm in the Bridal Suite. Wesley 101 is designed specifically for those who are considering membership. Participation in this class, led by Rev. Steve Patton, is the first step toward becoming a member of Wesley UMC. We will discuss the vows of membership and the history of Methodism, and there will be an opportunity to become better acquainted with the pastor and others attending the class. RSVP to Paige Gober: firstname.lastname@example.org.
