The Chancel Choir is open to anyone high school-aged and older. Stop by and visit a rehearsal to see if the Chancel Choir might be a good way to share your spiritual gifts and talents through music in worship at Wesley. We have openings in all sections and would love to have you join us in praise and worship through song. No audition is required, simply interview with the director.
This choir is a 5-octave choir with Malmark handbells and handchimes. The Wesley Ringers regularly participate in worship and special music services throughout the year. Previous handbell experience is not required, but the ability to read music is helpful (though not required).
The handbell ensemble is a smaller group that plays alone and accompanies the Chancel Choir. The group also serves as an outreach ensemble, including ringing Christmas carols in local nursing homes and assisted living communities. Previous handbell experience is not required, but the ability to read music is suggested.
This adult, beginner recorder ensemble enjoys fun and fellowship as we seek to develop new musical skills and forms of expression. This group is open to anyone who has ever played recorder or who would like to learn.
PARTNERS IN MINISTRY
Not a musician? There are many ways to lend your support for our Music Ministry by providing practical assistance by serving in the background. Some options include working with the Music Library, serving as a robe caretaker, assisting with public relations and publicity, offering visitor and new member outreach, being a children's choir helper, offering music office administrative support, serving as an usher or greeter at a music event, financially sponsoring a concert, and many others! Contact us today to get involved.
Instrumentalists of all ages and experiences are encouraged to participate in worship. If you play an instrument, we have opportunities to play solos, play with a choir, or play in an instrumental ensemble. If you are interested in playing in worship, please contact the Director of Music Ministries and Worship Arts.
Singers with appropriate skill and interest are encouraged and called on from time to time to sing solos in worship and for other events. A developed relationship (i.e. regular participation) within the Music Ministries is highly recommended as a prerequisite. If you are interested in singing a solo in worship, please contact the Director of Music Ministries and Worship Arts.
FRIENDS OF MUSIC
Support Music@Wesley financially through a special gift to help with the purchase of needed supplies, to sponsor a guest musician, or to support our concert series. $150 will purchase an anthem for the choir, which you can dedicate in honor or memory of someone dear to you - we will list the dedication in the worship bulletin on the first Sunday that the anthem is sung in worship. $250 will sponsor a guest musician for a worship service. $1,500 will sponsor a brass quartet or string quartet for worship. Larger donations can sponsor concert artists or orchestras for Wesley concerts. Please speak with the Director of Music to determine how you can become a Friend of Music at Wesley!
