The Staff-Parish Relations Committee is pleased to welcome Dr. Matthew Caine as our Director of Music Ministries. Matt, his wife Sarah, and their infant son Spencer are coming to Wesley from St. Petersburg, Florida, where Matt has been serving as Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church. Matt is a graduate of the University of South Carolina (DMA, Conducting), the University of South Florida (MM, Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance), Samford University (MME, Instrumental Music Education), and Birmingham-Southern College (BM, Church Music). He has served churches in the capacity of music director for the past 15 years and has extensive experience conducting and teaching music. We are excited to have Matt joining our church staff and Sarah working in Wesley Academy of Early Learning! For information about music opportunities at Wesley, email email@example.com.
As we welcome the Caine family, we also prepare to bid our Minister of Pastoral Care, Rev. Gene Yates, farewell. Gene will be leaving our church staff at the end of January to move to Dublin, Georgia, with wife Arlene. Please let Gene know how much his faithful service has meant to our congregation.
On Sunday, January 21, a luncheon will be held in Celebration Hall following the 10:45am service to welcome Matt, Sarah, and Spencer and to honor Gene and Arlene. We hope you will join us as we gather around the dinner table.
CONFIRMATIONAll Grade 6 students and their parents are invited to join us for Confirmation Kickoff Sunday, January 28 at 5:00pm in the Celebration Hall. Confirmation is a spiritual rite-of-passage, and Wesley's unique approach will strengthen your whole family's faith. To learn more, email Director of Youth Ministries David Herndon: firstname.lastname@example.org.
PREPARATION FOR LENTIf you have an artistic talent, we would love to display your spiritual artwork during the Lenten season, which begins February 14. Our goal is to have art from the local community and from our congregation to adorn the Sanctuary, breezeway, and Celebration Hall. Please email email@example.com for more information.

Grab your sweetie(s) and join us for a warm breakfast of pancakes and bacon/sausage, muffins, and juice/coffee. Each plate will cost $10, and a family can join us for $25. If you would like to take out a breakfast, drop us an email so we can prepare: firstname.lastname@example.org. ERT COURSEMark your calendars! On February 24, Wesley UMC will be hosting an Early Response Training (ERT) course by UMCOR. The cost is $25. The time will be announced at a later date. The course will be for ERT and Chainsaw certifications and will provide you with the basic information you need about Early Response Teams. ERTs fill a specific need in the early days after a disaster to clean out flood-damaged homes, remove debris, place tarps on homes, and otherwise help to prevent further damage, while providing a caring Christian presence. They are not a first-response group of emergency workers, nor are they recovery, rebuild, or repair teams. Under very specific guidelines, ERTs assist survivors without causing further harm or being a burden to the affected community. All ERT members are trained by authorized UMCOR trainers and are given identification badges as evidence of successful completion of the basic class. To register: please email email@example.com.

The theme this year is “Alive Together in Worship" as we seek to discover new ways to create vibrant and intimate worship experiences. Bishop James Swanson and our own South Georgia Bishop, Lawson Bryan, will participate in leading the conference. Bishop Bryan will also be the guest preacher at Wesley UMC on Sunday, January 28. Please plan to be with us in worship.
WESLEY 101As you reflect on your personal growth and relationships in the year ahead, you may wish to consider making Wesley your church home. We invite you to attend a Wesley 101 class on January 21 at 6:00pm in the Bridal Suite. Wesley 101 is designed specifically for those who are considering membership. Participation in this class, led by Rev. Steve Patton, is the first step toward becoming a member of Wesley UMC. We will discuss the vows of membership and history of Methodism, and there will be an opportunity to become better acquainted with the pastor and others attending the class. RSVP to Paige Gober: email@example.com.
