Meet Our Staff
John came to Wesley in June 2009 to serve as senior pastor. Before that, he served 11 years at St. Peter United Methodist Church in Columbus, Georgia. John also served previously at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Columbus, Georgia and Pine Forest United Methodist Church in Dublin, Georgia. John graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Religious Studies, from Emory University with a Master of Divinity degree, and from Columbia Theological Seminary with a Doctor of Ministry degree. John is married to Stephanie and has two girls, Sarah and Maddie. They also have a Pomeranian named Cooper Jackson. John enjoys golf, reading, hanging out with friends and spending time with his family.
Darlin joined our Wesley Staff in June of 2009. She has an extensive background in Church Ministries and administrative work. A native of St. Simons Island, Darlin attended Glynn Academy, Coastal Georgia Community College and Trinity Baptist College, in Jacksonville, Fl. Darlin has been married for 38 years to her high school sweetheart, Ronnie, who is a Baptist minister. They have 2 grown children, Christopher and Travis; and 2 grandchildren, Kamea and Tadan. Her desire is to “further the cause of Christ” through her work, here at Wesley.
Paige has been an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church since 1995. Prior to accepting her position of Director of Christian Education and Programs in 2000, she taught in the Wesley Preschool for 3 years. She completed her degree in Early Childhood Education in 2006. Her husband Scott is also an active member of this church. Daughter Tiffany,has completed two years of college and is working on a degree in Social Work. Son Hunter attends Glynn Academy, and has enjoyed his success on the wrestling team.
Lucas came to Wesley in June 2005 from Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Eastern University with a B.A. in Youth Ministry. He brings a heart for missions, musical skills and a top 10 ranking in the NDTT (National Dart Throwing Tour). Lucas has a desire to ignite passion for Jesus in the hearts of youth and a call to strengthen the body of believers. He is excited to see how God is working at Wesley and the surrounding community. In 2006, Lucas married his bride, Anthea in the Wesley Sanctuary. They have one child, beautiful Luciana.
Caroline joined the Wesley staff as the part-time Financial Secretary in December of 2008. She brings to Wesley 20 years of experience in the accounting field from the telecommunications industry to the family owned restaurant, and Inn. Caroline is a graduate from the College of Charleston and earned her BA degree in Business Administration and Accounting. She is the mother of two boys: Stefan (9) and Christoph (7).
Joshua came to Wesley in September of 2006 as our first fulltime Director of Music Ministries. As a graduate of Wheaton College’s Conservatory of Music, he earned a Bachelors of Music in Voice Performance (2004). Josh offers musical leadership in our 9:00 a.m. Oasis Contemporary Service and 10:45 a.m. Traditional Service. His passion for music and the arts is expressed in his desire to see “the people of God worship Him in all forms and media.” Josh and his bride Heather were married in the Wesley Sanctuary in August 2008.
Beth Humber serves as Organist and Handbell Director at Wesley. She received her training in organ performance at Augustana College in Davenport, Iowa and Bethel College in St. Paul, MN. She furthered her studies with Dr. Albert Travis at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth Texas. Beth started the handbell program at Wesley in addition to a Women’s Ensemble of eight auditioned singers who perform at worship services as well as in the community. She also serves as Organist and Handbell Director for the Jubalheirs, an auditioned Women’s Choir and Handbell Choir of the Georgia Baptist Convention who perform in churches across the State of Georgia. She teaches organ, writes and arranges organ music, and has had one of her collections published.
Norma and her husband, Tom, joined Wesley UMC in September of 1992. Prior to moving to St. Simons Island, she served as a pianist at several churches in the Atlanta area: First Baptist Jonesboro, First Baptist Church of Atlanta and Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. Her musical ministry began as an 8-year-old as she played for services with her father, a Baptist Minister.
Pam has served the Wesley Weekday Education Ministry for 16 years as the Afterschool Director and Pre-K teacher. In July 2008, she was named Director of Weekday School Ministry. A native of Savannah, she earned a Bachelors of Art in Music from Armstrong State University. Pam and her husband, Ed have been married for 38 years and have three sons: Shane, Josh, and Nick. She enjoys music and spending time with her granddaughters.
Josh has been with the Weekday Education Ministry since 1996. He is active with all ages of youth at Wesley as well as the Wesley Praise Ringers, and managed the Wesley Softball team to three straight League Championships. Josh was born in Atlanta and raised in Brunswick, where he attended Glynn Academy and Coastal Georgia Community College. He and his wife Heather have two daughters: Ramie and Savannah.
Edna has served as Wesley Church’s head custodian since January of 2003. She leads a contracted group to oversee the order and cleaning of our large physical plant and church property. She is experienced in construction clean up, as well as providing private cleaning services. Stewardship of the building is important to Edna. She is the mother of 5 adult children and the proud grandmother of 6. |
